How to Install and Configure Your DFN Fireball Observatory

Introduction
- Purpose of this hands on session is to help you get your cameras installed and to teach you a few tips and tricks to make your life easier.

Observatory Hardware

- Indicator LEDs
- What needs to work to take pictures
- How to avoid damaging the observatory hardware
- Take care when insert
- Use pliers to avoid damaging the LC shutter connector
- Be careful with UFL connectors and consider using pliers
- Support Molex Mini-Fit Jr connectors from behind when plugging in
- Take care when servicing the observatory, damage to cables and connectors will reduce reliability
- Common maintenance tasks
- Changing drives
- Formatting the CF card
- Cleaning and recoating the lenses
- Changing the blower duct (use flexible weatherproof silicone sealant, never use a hard glue)
- Changing the modem or SIM card
- Changing the DSLR or lens
- Changing the PCB
- Changing the USB WiFi adaptor (we have one case where a WiFi adaptor stopped the camera from booting)
