Using Garmin handheld unit:
- Turn on GPS unit
- Set the screen to display current coordinates
- Place unit right on top of instrument.
- Make sure station identifier is permanently marked on the sunshied and visible.
- Take picture of the scree with phone, making sure site ID is readable in picture.
- Record site ID, latitude, longitude, and date/time on notebook as backup.
